New Track for Ericsson Stadium

The lane markings were finished today and the attached photos show the completed
Mondo Track. The blue/red lanes have been deliberately selected to make the
track a 'point of difference' in Australasia.
The first event will be the Northern regional Multi's (decathlon and heptathlon)
on 12-13 January starting at 9am, followed by the HOT meet #3 on 19 Jan at 4pm, the
Trans Tasman Junior Challenge (Auckland vs NSW 10-12 year olds) on Sunday 20 Jan at 9am.
The official opening of the Ericsson Athletics Stadium Mondo Track will be on
Friday 8 February at 6pm on the occasion of the John Walker Mile (for NZ's top U20
years milers) and the Auckland Centennial 10,000 metres championships, the Auckland
Centennial Steeplechase Championships and the Auckland Centennial 3km Track Walk
Championships.
The NZ track & Field Championships will also be staged at Ericsson on 1-3 March -
the first time that these championships will have been staged on a Mondo Track
which is the same surface as the Sydney Olympic Games and the 2002 Commonwealth
Games at Manchester.
