| Valerie Adams from Auckland improved her own national shot record in
a meet in Hamilton this Sunday, by making a throw of 17.54m on her 6th attempt in the
Winter Series meet at Porritt Stadium.
The throw bettered her previous record of 17.38 set in February. This earlier throw took the women's national record (from Val Young) which had stood since the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. Links:
