30 August - Jonathan Wyatt and Dale Warrander finished well in the marathon, in what almost all runners interviewed stated was a hot and hard race. Wyatt's 2:17:45 for 21st pace was just 6:50 behind the winner, and ahead of experienced Australian runner Lee Troop. Dale's time of 2:19:42 won him 33rd place.
27 August - Craig Barrett has finished 29th in the 50km race walk, with a time of 4:06:48. Stuart Farquahar competed in the javelin qualifying round, and with a throw of 74.63m finished 13th in his pool.
23 August - Jason Stewart set a PB of 1:46.2 in finishing 5th in his 800m heat - not fast enough to progress to the semis though. Michael Aish finished second-last in his 5000m heat. Wellington athlete Selafina Akeli competing for Western Samoa threw 45.93m for 22nd place in javelin qualifying.
23 August - Nick Willis finished 6th in the slower 1500 semi and did not make the final. Liza Hunter-Galvan finished 51st in very hot conditions in the marathon. In other news the 1st place getter in the women's shot will lose her medal following a positive test for steroids. This will promote Valerie Adams to 8th in the final.
22 August - Beatrice Faumuina finished 7th in the final of the discus, with a result of 63.45. Melina Hamilton cleared 4.15 in the PV qualifying but failed at 4.30 and did not progress to the final.
21 August - Nick Willis qualified for the 1500 semi after finishing 3rd in his heat - a tactical race with a fast finish. Beatrice Faumuina qualified for the discus final with a single throw taking 3rd place in her pool. Kimberley Smith is out having finished 11th in her 5000 heat finishing with 15:31. John Henwood came a cropper in a dramatic 10000m final to record a DNF. Wellington Athlete Shaka Sola, competing for Western Samoa, threw 51.10 in the discus qualifying round for 19th place in his pool.

18 August - Valerie Adams has finished 9th in the final of the shot put, with a first round throw of 18.56 being a little short of her PB of 18.96m.
18 August - Valerie Adams has qualified for the final of the shot put by finishing 3rd in her qualifying pool - 18.79m on her first throw.
30 July - The IAAF has published the list of teams which have qualified to compete in relay events at the games, and NZ has missed out for selection in the Men's 4x100m. Selection is based on being in the top 16 national teams based on the average of 2 best performances during the period 1 Jan 2003 to 21 Jul 2004. 23 July - The NZOC has confirmed 5 more athlete selections for Athens: Nick Willis (1500m), Michael Aish (5000m), Stuart Farquhar (Javelin), Jason Stewart (800m) and Liza Hunter-Galvan (marathon). The team of 15 is detailed below.
3 July - Nick Willis has run an 'A' qualifier of 3.32.68 in the 1500m overnight so will almost certainly appear in the NZ team. This leaves Adrian Blincoe desperately seeking an A as his only chance of attending the games now.
2 July - Athletics New Zealand has announced the addition of 3 athletes - John Henwood, Melina Hamilton and Kimberley Smith.
6 May - Athletics New Zealand has announced the initial team of 5 to represent New Zealand in Athletics (see below).
