2005 News & Results

Some notes on the eventful weekend -

• National Resident Record to Melina, improving 1cm on the 4.30 she set at the captial classic earlier in the season.
• Jaedena Ward (age 13) has supplanted Julia as the youngest NZ woman to clear 3m.
• A rare jump-off for first place in the U20 grade. With 2 competitors left in, Julia missed 3.50 while Amber passed 3.50 and missed 3.60 - so the jumpoff started at 3.50 with Amber being successful.
• Julia's 3.50 in the W16 grade was a qualifier for the World Youth Games.
• Rachel's 2.90 is thought to be a Wellington centre W16 W19 & SW record, earlier record was 2.85 jumped by both Claire Sharpe and Mariah Meagher in 2001.
• Winds were light but mostly a headwind. The event was switched ends on Sunday PM for the senior women, and guess what the wind turned providing a light headwind again.
• Sorry I was not able to retrieve the score sheets so we only have the final results (below). I can't remember what heights all the NH's were attempted at, the only ones I remember are Rachel Kemp U17 2.60, James Thompson SM 4.00
