Geoff writes: Race Reports should always be written directly after race day but in our case seem to get forgotten as we lay back and relax in the steamy thermal pools the next day.

One tends to think that the experience of the race and hilarity of the after match bards is what sticks in the competitors mind and the last thing they want to browse on the website is a boring summary of the day.

But for the record the 2003 Molesworth Run was the most successful to date in both numbers competing and weather conditions. After the terrible weather experienced during the 2002 event and lower than expected numbers things had to get better.

There are always competitors that excel and 2003 was no exception. In the Four Person Teams Event contested by 35 teams The Tussock Jumpers team of John Kennedy, Michael Stewart, Peter Dick and Jason Watts blitzed the field.

The Two Person Team event was hotly contested with the two leading teams finishing only 6 seconds apart. The team of Mike Baxter and Peter Davidson just headed off the Billie Marshall and Owen Rouse combination.

Nelson Veteran John Thirkettle received a standing ovation at the after match function for another superb effort in the Solo Event. John is a Molesworth Legend running every year since race inception and winning all but one.
